Simona Kwon, DrPH, MPH is a Professor in the Department of Population Health and Director of the Section for Health Equity in the Department of Population Health. She is also the Director and MPI of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD)-funded Center for the Study of Asian American Health (CSAAH). Her research examines the social and cultural factors that influence health and health outcomes for populations experiencing health disparities. She is a tireless health justice advocate and mentor. Her Jenkins Award talk, "Cancer Prevention and Community-engaged Research to Reach Chinese American Populations in New York City, ” discussed her work towards eliminating health disparities through collaborative, community-driven coalition efforts.
In celebration of Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, the UCSF Asian American Research Center on Health in collaboration with the UCSF Office of Diversity and Outreach are hosting a panel discussion of national leaders, scholars, and researchers to create dialogue on the current status and future trajectories of Asian American health, data and policy on a state and national level.

Mr. Ching Wong has been responsible for developing health promotional materials and programs for over 20 interventional studies promoting Asian American health in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hmong, Korean, Tagalog, and Vietnamese over the course of 30 years. This informative talk shared lessons learned through his many years of developing effective interventions together with the community.
