Dr. Shawn Chiang (he/him) is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the Texas A&M School of Public Health. He is a health communication scholar focused on understanding multi-level factors of HPV vaccination and cancer screening disparities and leveraging translational digital health & communication science to help reduce these disparities and promote health equity through culturally tailored, mixed methods approaches. Ongoing projects include examining the impact of acculturation on cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination among first/second generation of Asian Americans, understanding the role of social resources on survivorship outcomes among Chinese American breast cancer survivors, and developing a machine-learning model to analyze HPV/Cervical Cancer-related video content on YouTube.
