Dr. Joyce Javier is an Associate Professor at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, specializing in Filipino health disparities and youth suicide and depression prevention. As a dedicated physician scientist and advocate, she employs community-based participatory research methods to address health equity for underserved populations. Dr. Javier’s research encompasses evidence-based parenting interventions and the recruitment of AANHPIs in clinical research, with funding from NIH, AAP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Her leadership roles include Advocacy Lead for the Society for Pediatric Research Executive Council and co-chair of its Advocacy Committee. She has received numerous awards, such as the AAP Local Hero Award and the Filipina Women’s Network’s 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award. Dr. Javier earned her MD from UC Irvine, MPH in Epidemiology from UC Berkeley, and completed her pediatrics residency and fellowship at Stanford University.
