I am a clinically trained family therapist and speak Mandarin and English. I am an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University’s Center for Genetic Medicine. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics where I published a systematic review of Asian American patients’ experiences with genetic counseling and genetic testing. I hold a PhD from the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health, and did a pre-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) conducting clinical research in cancer genetics. My research is focused on designing family-centered approaches for precision medicine interventions such as genetic testing and genetic counseling. Specifically, I am interested in observing and improving family-based genetic services for Asian Americans. I am trained in mixed-methods research, and have extensive experience designing and conducting qualitative research and quantitative data analyses with family-level data.
