Arnab Mukherjea

Associate Professor & Department Chair of Public Health | CSU East Bay

I am an Associate Professor & Department Chair of Public Health at California State University, East Bay. My research interests largely revolve around using community-engaged methods to understand and address health disparities among understudied Asian & Pacific Islander subgroups, with a particular focus on contextual and culturally-framed risk factors. My current studies focus on the role of resilience and trauma on health behaviors, beliefs, and outcomes among South Asians in the United States. I am a Research Scholar/Scientist for two Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research (RCMARs): the UCSF Center for Aging in Diverse Communities and the Rutgers University Asian RCMAR. I also serve a Scientific Advisory Board Member for the RCMAR National Coordinating Center at UCLA. In addition to my scholarly interests, I am committed to mentoring those who reflect communities who are underrepresented and underserved, to ultimately be the agents of change for health equity, especially among understudied Asian American & Pacific Islander subgroups.
