Congratulations to ARCH investigators for their recent publications and presentations!

Dr. Tsoh

    • Janice Tsoh and collaborators published an analysis of the California Health Interview Survey entitled “Low health literacy and cancer screening among Chinese Americans in California: a cross-sectional analysis” in which low health literacy and limited English proficiency was negative associated with up-to-date breast and colorectal cancer screening, independent of a recent physician visit.

Dr. Kanaya

    • Alka Kanaya and collaborators published “Optimum BMI Cut Points to Screen Asian Americans for Type 2 Diabetes” in Diabetes Care.  The BMI cut point for identifying Asian Americans who should be screened for undiagnosed type 2 diabetes should be <25 kg/m2, and ≥23 kg/m2 may be the most practical.

Dr. Nguyen

    • Bang Nguyen, Stephen McPhee and Tung Nguyen published “Cognitive Interviews of Vietnamese Americans on Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Health Educational Materials” in Ecology of Food and Nutrition. This was the first study to document that family eating style poses a challenge for estimating food intake among Vietnamese Americans.

Dr. Jih

    • Jane Jih and colleagues published “Patient-physician language concordance and use of preventive care services among limited English proficient Latinos and Asians” in Public Health Reports. Patient-physician language concordance was not associated with higher use of mammography, colorectal cancer screening, or influenza vaccination and language concordance was negatively associated with colorectal cancer screening among Asians.

Dr. Karliner

    • Leah Karliner on the awarding of her Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) grant entitled "Clinician Language Concordance and Interpreter Use: Impact of a Systems Intervention on Communication and Clinical Outcomes."
